An incredible (surprise) Baby Shower!!!!

A luncheon "tea" that my boss invited me to at Keswick Hall turned in to THIS... a SURPRISE baby shower!!! :)

These are some of my amazing and lovely friends that kept this baby shower tea a complete surprise...I'm still so amazed, shocked, and filled with LOTS of JOY and LOVE for and from these adorable friends...

Here I am in complete shock! ;)

My precious friend, Robin that planned it all! I just found out she used to be an event-planner..OF COURSE!! She's full of amazing talent!! ;) THANK YOU, Robin... so thankful for the day we met at The Nook!! ;) Love you!! (Robin was my first friend here in C'ville;)...it's totally a God thing for how we met! ;)

And this was in the box (along with some cute undies!;)... I so loved it and appreciate it!! What a clever idea...I will HAVE to remember this for a baby gift! Such a fun little "momma gift" and a great motivator to get my "sexy back"...haha!! ;) I am so grateful to these amazing ladies and friends of mine...I love and adore all of you!! :)

I must say...every place God has taken Brad and I HE has always surrounded us with incredible people, friends and relationships...from Cleveland, GA (where we started at Truett-McConnell college), to Valdosta, GA (where we transferred and graduated), to Perry, Ga (PRAISE God he didn't keep us there!!!!;), to Mississippi (3 1/2 years) and now Charlottesville, VA God has always remained FAITHFUL to His word! Brad and I have always loved the Jabez prayer...especially the part of expanding (enlarging) our territory. God has certainly expanded our territory and we are beyond thankful for each and EVERY friendship/relationship HE has blessed us with!!! ;)

And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying,

"Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!"

So God granted him what he requested.

A week in "re-cap"...

Well, it's good to be back... I'll be real quick as I've got limited time... I made some healthy meals last week and this was one of mine (and my boys;) favorite...pecan-crusted salmon, oven-roasted rosemary potatoes and spinach salad..YUM!! ;)

Aunt Christy (Brad's sister) mailed us a large package of (cousin) Jackson's hand-me-downs... super AWESOME to this momma! ;) Thanks Aunt Christy and Jackson!!! :)

We took Hudson to "family swim" at my gym on Saturday...Hudson is still fearless of the water and continues to show lots of "growth" in his swimming skills and coordination in the water!

Such a FISH! ;)

I realized that I have never posted Hudson's "art board"... I try to rotate all the fun things he brings home from church, pre-school and the things he does w/ Miss Donna...some stay up longer b/c they're so darn cute! ;) I have a small storage bin for the things I want to keep indefinitely... it's always a tough "cut" but I just can't keep everything?!

The Valentine Hudson brought home from pre-school... majority of the hand-prints and foot-prints DO make the cut! ;)

This has been on our frig since early December...Hudson loves writing his H's! He's got the "H" and "O" just about to perfection! ;) Way to go, HudsOn!! :)

Last week was a GREAT week! Seriously...no internet and no TV! God did some awesome things and showed me that honestly I have alot of distractions in my life...how do I even have the time for these distractions?! Seriously?! And as for the no TV... I actually accomplished more in the evenings/night-time. I read a good portion of this month's book for my book club.. "7" by Jen Hatmaker (another post for another time!;), had some great brain-teasing fun playing Soduko, and the best part...Brad and I had some great times talking, communicating, playing card games, and just spending some good ole quality time together! ;)

A day off...

This past Wednesday I took the day off from work... Hudson had been fighting a cough/drainage for a couple of days and even though he didn't have a fever I felt like his little body and immune system needed a day of REST! It's always hard making those parental decisions when there's no fever and every other kid you see has the same cough...but I was 100% confident I made the right decision on this one and we had a great/layed back/relaxing day...resting?! ;)

I'm not sure if it's a part of Hudson's DNA or if it's something I've subconsiously trained him to do...but we both start our days with the need of an "agenda"...this is one reason I L-O-V-E my part-time job...seriously this job is something I prayed for 10 MONTHS about {more on that another time!;)}!!! We do love our Saturday mornings being lazy but on a typical weekday...there is a plan {routine/agenda}. On Wednesday.. Hudson was thrilled to be staying home with me {as he really was "under the weather"} but by 9am started asking for some crafts {"like I do with Miss Donna"...his Monday babysitter}. So, what better craft than FINGER PAINT!!! ;) I actually love letting Hudson use paint...he also has a rice and bean bucket I bring out on a rainy day (or a day like Wednesday;)...yes, my child would rather paint and make up his own fun than play with a toy...it's just "him"?! ;)

Another fun thing...I took H with me to get my eye brows waxed...he's enjoyed telling people that mommy got her eye brows "jaxed"! ;)

Voila! A masterpiece! ;)

Today Hudson brought home a cross he made in Children's church/Sunday school...it went like this..

Hudson is a child of God.

I love seeing Hudson express himself! ;)

Speaking of church...our church is doing a week long FAST. I totally believe in Matthew 6:18 about doing your fast in secret for only your Father to see and HE will reward you...but I do think I should let you know I've decided my fast will be from the internet/media! That means no blogging, no (gasp!) Pinterest, no Officetally, no Facebook (which won't be that hard...or maybe it will be?!), etc.. I will still use email as I have to use it for work. I'm thankful and excited for this week...so many things to be in prayer for and I truly want refining and cleansing in so many areas of my life...SERIOUSLY!!!!

Before I sign-off... it's been a fun week to watch the voting poll but after much "activity" the poll is officially 50/50...that's RIGHT..

32 WEEKS!!!

Ohhh...the simple joys our little family is loving these days. This pic was taken Friday night at Wild Wings Cafe on Main Street which is quickly becoming one my favorite family restaurants... I love their extended menu (wings, wraps, sandwiches, salads, spuds/loaded baked potatoes, soups, etc...). It has high energy and a really fun atmosphere to watch any and all sporting events (aka- a great restaurant to take a child!;)!!

We are excited about our little addition coming OH SO soon but we are also enjoying these easy, simple, FUN times with our 2 year 7"ish" month old son (he would prefer telling you..."I'll be THREE on May 26";)...Yes, he's learned his birthday and believe you me...he wants EVERYone to know it!!! ha,ha! ;) ;) Anyhow, we often look around realizing we haven't had even the first "baby item" in almost 2 years...we go places with maybe a snack and water, we haven't used diapers/pull-ups in 7+ months (besides bedtime), H doesn't even use a highchair anymore (unless we eat with friends..we don't want him to be tempted to get up and down!;), we sit as a family and have great conversations as we have for a long time now...pretty crazy to think how our little lives and world will so quickly change...

And...here we are to 32 WEEKS!! Can you believe it?!? We only have 8 weeks to go...WOW!!! We were trying desperately to take a cute/fun picture of Hudson holding up the "32 Weeks" sign... I was giving Brad a hard time about taking the pics, he was making me laugh, which made Hudson laugh...and this was the outcome! ;) We had a beautiful morning of snow...or a little "dusting" but it was still pretty! ;) We had to rush on to church so we tried again when we got home...

Better...right!?! ;)

We really are excited about adding to our family...it's just alot to take in when we haven't really been in "baby mode" for quite some time but I'm sure everything {"baby"} will come back to me {us}..right?!?!

"A Cavalier..."

This is the University of Virginia Cavalier. Funny story.. I had our sweet babysitter, Lindsay {a 4th year UVa student} babysit on Wednesday while I was at work... she text me that she and Hudson were playing and she asked him... "Hudson, what do you want to be when you grow up?" Hudson immediately responded... "A Cavalier." It gave us both a good laugh but I also thought it was quite clever of my 2 1/2 year old. ;) ;) Brad took Hudson to the UVa basketball game last weekend (UVa vs. Miami)..big game and very exciting! Hudson loved it to say the least...they actually stayed the entire time {it helps that it's such a "fast pace" sport!;)}!

We have really missed Brad this week.. he has been in Orlando for his annual Corporate meeting. He left at 5am Monday morning and won't be home until 10pm tonight (Friday)...it's been a surprisingly FAST week!? Sooo many reasons to PRAISE the Lord! ;) It probably helped that my mom flew up on Wednesday evening {she comes up this same week every year while Brad is gone...it's so nice of she AND my dad!!;)}. I can't even begin to number all the ways my mom helps me... she amazes me!!! :)

Maryland {Fussell} Family..

I think we've officially made it a Christmas tradition... my dad's brother (my Uncle Weyman) and his family come down from Maryland for a short Christmas visit... this year they came on Dec. 28th. We always have a ton of fun...eating good food, doing some kind of fun gift exchange (each person brings one gift to exchange and we play some kind of game or "musical gifts" like we did this year!;), and we always do something fun around C'ville! This year we went to Barboursville Winery for a little wine tasting...and to see some historic landmarks.

Here we are outside the winery... Brad stayed home with Hudson while he napped. I love getting to see this side of my family...I always enjoy catching up w/ my cousins! ;)

I know this isn't a very good picture of me...this was taken during the holidays. Hudson truly loves kissing my belly, talking and singing to the baby, giving my stomach "raspberries", etc... we hope his excitement continues after the baby! ;)

A few things to help you VOTE...

Both pregnancies have been very similar.. the only thing(s) that are somewhat different are the foods I'm craving and I'm carrying this baby more out front and a little low (or at least what I think is low!;).

With Hudson I craved protein...anything protein. Peanut butter, chicken, steak, seafood, chick-fil-a, even sushi (cooked;)... with this baby I crave sweets and carbohydrates!

Also, with Hudson I carried him more in my hips and "back-side"...I didn't even have a "baby bump" until around 6months... with this baby I feel like I'm carrying more out front and low (as I said before;).

However, this baby is EVERY bit as active as Hudson was in the womb...if not MORE {if it's even possible!?;)} I guess Brad and I just make them active! ;) I drink nothing but water and this baby rarely stops moving...seriously!!

Okay, well go and VOTE!!! I look forward to seeing what people think we'll have!! ;)

A "glee-ful" Christmas

Yes, I know I'm about a week late on posting Christmas morning/day pictures...but better late than never..right?! ;) We had a very slow start on Christmas morning... little H-man slept in until 8:40am. Brad and I woke up around 7am ready to see our little man's excitement...but instead enjoyed sitting with my parents sipping on cup(s) of coffee, chatting, and listening to Christmas music... I actually really cherish that sweet time I had with my mom and dad!! ;) ;)

As 8:30am approached we began making more noise just to get Hudson "stirring"... as you can see from the picture above he probably would've slept alot longer but we were so ready and anxious to start our Christmas DAY!! ;)

Hudson loved giving his new bike a "spin"... he was surprised to have such a "big boy" bike!! ;)

Lovin his keyboard... Hudson loves anything music!

Yes, you might notice the red and green M&M's on Hudson's breakfast plate... come on, it's CHRISTMAS!! ;) Hudson wakes up hungry and READY to eat (most mornings;)..and sleeping in so late made no exception... my delicious breakfast casserole and monkey bread/cinnamon rolls weren't quite ready..so I threw some pancakes and candy (H's Christmas morning request;) on his plate! ;) He didn't want his bike out of his sight... ;)

The stockings were a big hit for everyone! Santa left us all some pretty cool things in our stockings!! ;) {I've always loved the excitement of seeing what "Santa" left in our stockings!;)}

It really was a super lazy, layed-back, joyful, MERRY Christmas day! We had a ton of fun with a Glee concert DVD, a GLEE karaoke Wii game, a kid "just dance" Wii game and all the other fun stuff Santa and family gave us! :) Along with all the fun I think baby Brown #2 and I could hibernate (and not eat) the rest of winter with all the delicious FOOD we consumed... all I can say is my next "weigh-in" at the doctor will not be so "pretty"...watch out SCALE!! ;)

Thank you Bee and Dee for spending Christmas with us... we had a blast and you made Christmas even more special! ;) Hope you had as much FUN as we did!! ;)

I think Hudson's favorite Christmas decorations were the "Santa man" and "Snow lady"...I absolutely adored listening to the fun/creative conversations he would have with them! ;)

After Nana's visit... it was Granddaddy's turn! Another GREAT time {and Merry Christmas "visit"} was had by ALL!! ;)

My parent's drove up on Friday (Dec 23)... Hudson with both of his Grand-dad's... Granddaddy and Dee!! ;) I think it's safe to say Hudson was lovin' all the grandparent love and attention! ;)

Hudson was very involved with preparing Santa's snack... we were hoping our neighbors left lots of goodies for the reindeer {I always have a hard time remembering to leave treats for them!;)}.

This was hilarious... I told Hudson to "pose" with the cookies {a silly request from me...} but this is what he did... I love that he actually "appeased" his momma and layed down with the cookies! It gave us all a good laugh!! ;)

It's not just Santa that visits the Brown house this time of year... it's ALL 4 grandparents!!! ;) First visit, NANA!!!! :)

Brad and I are very thankful for our extremely generous and thoughtful gift... the iPAD! WOW Nana...that was just way too much but we THANK YOU!! This has given me my 2012 resolution... become more "tech savvy"! ;)

I LOVE my ornament that Nana gave me... it's the verse we pray for Hudson (since the WOMB!;)...

Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it. ~Proverbs 22:6

We loved taking Nana to the LIVE nativity in Afton, VA (only about 25mins away)...my camera didn't take very good "night time" pictures but at least I got one of the camels (a highlight for Hudson!;).

WOW! I can't believe we only have FIVE days until Christmas...this beautiful season goes by WAY TOO fast!! I want to cherish every little moment that I can...and the worst part is I've been bad this year at remembering to document (with pictures) all the "little" moments!

I'm so thankful for the fun time we had taking these Christmas pictures (for keepsake AND our Christmas card!;).

We met our photographer (Melissa) in Crozet on some beautiful land/property...

Hudson loved running around...the wide open space always helps when picture taking! ;)

Along with these pictures we've already had a ton of holiday fun...

baking and decorating cookies, looking at Christmas lights, Nana (Brad's mom) came for her Christmas visit (pictures coming soon!;), I hosted a little "Mom's cookie swap", decorating the house (inside AND out), enjoying our Advent calendar...the baby Jesus one AND the chocolate one (you open up each day and there is a piece of chocolate candy), a little shopping (obviously;), singing Christmas carol's, visiting LIVE Nativity's (the one in Afton, VA was incredible!;), talking about all the ways we celebrate Jesus' birthday ;), buying some sweet gifts for children in need around C'ville, and of course, who could forget eating breakfast with Santa! ;)

We still have lots of Christmas fun to come... Granddaddy (Brad's dad) comes tomorrow and my parents come on Friday... lots of last minute things on my "to-do" list... but I always love family/friends visiting..especially this wonderful time of year!! ;)

We did it again!! Breakfast with Santa... you can click HERE to see all the fun we had LAST year! ;) It's such a fun experience and I'm so thankful we have made it a family tradition for a second year in a row (crazy to think we'll have a little 9 month old baby with us NEXT year!!!;). WOW...and yikes?!?! ;)

Hudson has been talking about eating with Santa ALL week...he wanted to hear Santa sing "Jingle Bells" (which he did) and say "Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Christmas!" (which he also did!;). Thanks Santa... I'm fairly certain that's been the main thing on Hudson's Christmas "list"!! ;)

Lovin' our breakfast... we met several of our good friends! A big thank you to Robin for making our reservations so early (in October)...it fills up fast!

Lovely Lights...

This first picture was taken on Thanksgiving day (right before we left for Lina's house to have dinner;)...I just found it on Brad's iphone and thought I'd post it. ;)

Here is the latest picture Brad took w/ his phone of our "lovely" Christmas lights!! ;) This was the night Brad worked on them...and in my opinion they're even prettier NOW! ;) Plus, Brad has worked on the wreath that's hanging from the window...I'll be sure and post more pictures soon! ;) My favorite new decoration is an ornament wreath that's hanging from our light post that reads "Merry Christmas Y'all"... I bought it this year at Martha's Market and I just love it! ;)

Hudson is 100% all about Christmas this year... he wants Christmas music playing at all times (especially in the CAR!;), he loves having nightly "dance parties" to Christmas music, he loves singing Jingle Bells, pointing out any and all Christmas decorations whereever we go, and he and his buddy Jack had a blast dancing to the large plastic Santa at Lowe's the other day (it was a nice surprise to run into Jack and his daddy, Jay;)... "Breakfast with Santa" is next Saturday and I can hardly wait... Hudson has been "Ho, Ho, Ho-ing" and "Merry Christmas-ing" for days now so I know he'll be thrilled to see Santa (or at least I think he'll be thrilled;).

Cute story: I told Hudson the other day that we needed to go shopping for his cousin, Mallory. He asked if it was her birthday... here's our conversation...

Me: No, it's Jesus' birthday and we buy for others to celebrate HIS birth

Hudson: I don't sing Happy Birthday to Mallory because it's Jesus birthday?

Me: That's right...Mallory's birthday is in October and Jesus is why we celebrate Christmas! ;)

Later that day when I was watching and listening on his monitor before he fell asleep at nap time I heard him singing... "Happy Birthday to Jesus, Happy birthday to God, Happy Birthday it's Christmas...Merry Christmas"

Talk about melting my heart! I love my little boy and all his inquistive and curious personality! ;)

A little bit of THANKSGIVING!!!

First, I want to show Hudson's latest interest...picking out his own clothes {I don't always let him...but some days it's not worth the battle}! But at least he loves his NYC t-shirt I bought him...even if he does look like mustard and ketchup! ;)

And...he decided to wear his Tiger costume I bought him for Halloween...thankfully my neighbor loaned us the puppy dog costume that her son wore last year. Hopefully, this Tiger costume will be good for "dress-up" on a rainy day! ;)

And..here we are to Thanksgiving day. It was a tough decision but we decided to stay put this year and not deal with the awful traffic on Wednesday and Sunday (before and after Thanksgiving...2 of the WORST travel days of the year!). No matter which way you go...29, 64, 77, 81 and 85 were bound to have bumper-to-bumper traffic and it's just NO fun...especially with a 2 1/2 year old!! Not to mention, it took us about 14hours last year just to get back to Virginia!

We honestly had a super "chill", relaxing, stay in your pj's longer kinda holiday...and it was awesome!! Even though we missed our family!! :(

With the beautiful weather we went on a nice walk, stopped at the park and just enjoyed the great outdoors! ;)

Our sweet friend, Lina invited us to their Thanksgiving dinner...it was nice being surrounded by great friends and their wonderful family!! ;) I made my mom's delicious apple/cranberry casserole, green bean casserole, rolls and my first-ever homemade PECAN PIE...YUM!! I think the pie may officially become a holiday tradition!! ;) And of course, everything at Lina's was AMAZING!!! :)

We were extra lazy this year...we loved sleeping in, staying in our pj's, watching the Thanksgiving day parade, baking/cooking, consuming too many calories, decorating for Christmas early (pictures to come), accomplishing a few house projects (alot more to do before MARCH!;), a visit to IKEA and Hobby Lobby, oh yeah...did I mention being LAZY!!?? ;)

We missed our family and it was hard being away from my momma being that it's her favorite holiday but I know everyone was very understanding of our decision...we do love living in Virginia but I'm not gonna lie... I hope to live closer to family one day!! ;)

Sneak peek (Christmas 2011)!!

Since we live so far from family (10-12 hours..depending on the day of traveling;) I like to give a little "window" in to what we've been up to. We met a friend-of-a-friend this past Sunday after church to take some family pictures...it's been way TOO long since we've had any made plus what better time than the holidays!?! ;) Brad and I absolutely LOVED where she (Melissa-the photographer) had us meet her...it was at a beautiful old house/farm in Crozet with lots of land and an old barn, stable, porch, etc... it was perfect for Hudson to run around!! ;)

I love how this turned out...Hudson likes to push our heads together to kiss, I love that Melissa was able to capture it with Hudson "peeking" through. ;) I didn't get to see a ton of the pictures but what I did see I LOVED...hopefully I'll be receiving them in the next week...and I may give another "sneak peek"! ;)

I hope you all have a very HAPPY Thanksgiving..I'm sure I'll have some pictures to post again very SOON! ;)

New York City 2011!!!!!!!!

Two weekends ago I went on a fabulous "girl's trip" to NYC with 3 of my very best friends from college! I absolutely LOVE those girl's and to be in the "Big Apple" together was beyond amazing!!! ;)

We started our weekend toward Central Park...about a 2mile walk from our fabulous NEW YORKER Hotel. Jessamie took care of the reservations...she's a great little planner! ;)

Oh yeah, and Jessamie has many talents..not only does she do some pretty cool things with redesigning unique furniture and decor she's also an excellent photographer! ;) I especially love this "belly shot" because she didn't get my back-side..and let's be honest I carry alot of my weight on my back-side!! ;) haha!! {This was me at 21 weeks!} I also love that she captured the beautiful fall foliage and city in the background...way to go, Jess!! ;)

We walked EVERYwhere...I would love to know how many miles we walked in 48 hours!? Here we are in front of the Statue of Liberty...it was a quick trip but we did it ALL! Sight seeing, shopping, eating, walking, Subway, Taxi..you name it we DID it!! We rocked that city in about 48 hours!! ;) I wish I could share all the funny stories and hilarious laughs we had...these girl's mean the world to me!! Love you, Ladies!! ;)

A BIG Thank You to Nana (Brad's mom) for flying up to VA to be with Brad and Hudson! ;) It made my trip even more enjoyable!! :)

He's a pretty 10 pointer! Brad was thrilled and it seems we'll have nice portion of venison in our deep freezer. ;)

I honestly can't believe how FAST October came and went... it was a busy month and to think we're already a week in to November!? Brad and I both agree 2011 has been one of the FASTEST years of our life...where does the time go?! Seriously??!!

We really did have a fun and relaxing Halloween... Hudson enjoyed the lawn and honestly didn't want to leave. Hudson loved getting to see more kids and cute costumes! ;)

I do apologize for my delay in posting the Halloween pictures...it has been a busy month and WEEK!! My mom and my cousin (Ashley) from Maryland were both here this week/weekend...we had a great time and FUN visit!! ;) With all this FUN we've been having...

Harvest/Halloween "Bash"..

Well, first of all "Happy Halloween" to everyone! ;) I'm not some over the top Halloween person... but I'm finding it to be a little more "cute"/fun since having a young child. I love the poem "5 Little Pumpkins sitting on a gate" and "Have you ever seen a pumpkin", etc... it's been fun singing those to Hudson this year (I pull out all my fun Pre-K teaching material this time of year.. or at least what I can remember!;).

Anyhow, we hosted a little "Harvest/Halloween" party for some of our friends this past Friday... it was planned for well over a month and of course the day it came there was a "Winter Storm" advisory...seriously??!! And it was planned to be OUTside...we moved our cars and made it in our driveway and cul-do-sac...it really was a FUN time even though I'm fairly certain the temp dropped to 39 degrees while everyone was still here!?

Yes, when the Brown's host a "throw-down" we go all out!! ;) With about 14 young toddlers/children (ages 18months-4yrs old) we felt like we needed more than the push toys and tricycles... plus, much to our delight it wasn't very expensive to RENT this bounce n' play!! ;)

I was MOST proud of my center piece with Hudson's artwork from pre-school and some things we've done at home (but mostly preschool!;). I have LOVED everything he has made... handprint spiders, black cats, jack-o-lanterns, orange collage, fall foliage trees, etc... so I was very proud of my "branch idea"... I clipped his art to the branches in the vase! ;)

While I'm on the subject of Hudson's art... our Monday babysitter (Donna) brings a craft bag EVERY week with her and they do fun artwork together..Hudson loves it and so do I!! ;)

And the COLD RAIN came... we brought out our large tent and moved the kids, food and ourselves under it..along with the garage and INside!! Can you see the adorable spider cupcakes my friend Catherine made...she and her son, Will are so crafty in the kitchen! ;)

It really was a FUN time I just wish the weather would've been a little more "cooperative" but the kids didn't seem to notice and with all the yummy food and good friends...the adults didn't seem to mind either! ;)

This past week we met some of our good friends at a local farm (Greenfield Farm). A fun farm that is full of hay bails, tricycles, play houses, animals (such as, goats, sheep, rabbits, pigs, donkey, chicken, turkey, etc...and that's just to name a few!;), along with slides, slides and MORE slides!! ;) Basically a young child's paradise!! ;)

Our "Tough Mudder"

I feel terrible that it's taken me almost a WEEK to blog about this but we are so proud of Brad for successfully completing the "TOUGH MUDDER" challenge (last Sunday, October 23)!! And this challenge is NO JOKE... it was 9 miles on a ski resort (Winter Green, VA) with 27 obstacles (yes, 27!!!!). Start time temperature was 34 degrees...and majority of the obstacles had some element of WATER (notice the balance beam obstacle).

The monkey bars were placed over a muddy pool of water and some were greased with butter and oil...just to make it even more challenging!?!

This was the "carry your log" obstacle... you carried your log about 3/4- 1 mile on these "small" bunny slopes...

This picture is a little PG-13 but this is the ICE BATH obstacle that Brad said was by far the WORST obstacle/challenge... he said it's the coldest he's ever been in his entire LIFE!!! Notice the wall you had to submerge under to get out of the ICE...after you'd already been in for about 20yards...this just seems miserable to me but we are so proud of Brad for completing the Tough Mudder!!! ;)

And here he is.. crossing the FINISH LINE 3hours and 45minutes later!! He and his buddies had a great time but could hardly move on Monday (the day after the race). Needless to say, I was very proud of my baby daddy!! ;) I guess after 5+ years of marriage a 2 1/2 year old and a new baby on the way... Brad's still got that active/adventurous spirit he's always had and I so love and appreciate that about him!!! ;)

The other night we turned one of our pumpkins into a Jack-O-lantern!! Hudson loved helping daddy take out all the pumpkin "goop"..

Hudson really was a great helper and I was so proud of Brad with the "end" creation... (and YES, I helped as well!;)

It's simple but sweet! ;) We have another pumpkin to carve {maybe} later this week. We're hosting a little Halloween/Harvest "Bash" next weekend... there may be an interesting little jack-o-lantern contest with a FUN prize for the winner. Stay tuned! ;)

If there's one thing I love to be... it's PRODUCTIVE!!! Being productive can be several different things to each individual person but lately...I've had several days of feeling quite productive..and I'm LOVIN' it!!! ;) Here's one way I'm feeling "productive"...

One of my sweet friends at work lives on a FARM..I mean the real deal raising chicken, cattle, growing gardens kinda FARM..and I buy her farm fresh eggs about every 2 weeks (this is a recent business deal..going on about 2 months!;). Well, as you can imagine..we have a nice supply of farm fresh eggs. And believe it or not, I make Hudson {Brad and myself} homemade french toast at least 2 (sometimes 3) mornings a week...and YES, even working/weekday mornings when I have to be at work by 8:30am (hence the feeling of being PRODUCTIVE!!;). But today is the day we're having QUICHE {another great/healthy way to use my farm fresh eggs} for dinner! Do you want to know HOW I knew today was the day for quiche?? Because I plan our meals by the WEEK (just another way I feel productive;)!! It's something my mom always did and now that Brad can give me a little better "outlook" of his week it's been alot easier to plan... so today (Thursday) I had QUICHE on the weekly menu.

It also helps with my couponing... I'm certainly NO pro at coupon thing but every little bit helps! ;) So before Hudson even woke up this morning I cooked the sausage and set aside for later {when I got home from work}. Tues/Thursdays are nice b/c Hudson comes to pre-school WITH me (he's in the 2 year old class;). While Hudson ate his lunch and played a little I threw everything together...the sausage, spinach, mushrooms and cheese. Put my pie crust together, mixed my eggs and milk (salt and pepper) and Voila! I through it in the oven, put Hudson down for his nap...and now, our dinner is ready for when we get home tonight!

We have Hudson's Fall Festival at pre-school later today (I'm volunteering to help at one of the "booths"). Should be a ton of fun but it's so nice knowing that dinner for my family will be ready when we get home! ;)

Oh yeah, Brad bought a loaf of whole grain/all natural (all organic ingredients..I say this b/c as healthy as it is they don't last as long due to the lack of preservatives...which is a good thing;) bread at the Farmer's market LAST Tuesday...we only have half a loaf left and while it's probably passed it's expiration for sandwich bread I may try to whip up some french toast to go along w/ our quiche...and probably the frozen tator tots in our freezer as well!! ;)

I follow several blogs that share their weekly (sometimes MONTHLY) meal schedule...it's always fun to see what people are eating! ;) This week was fairly easy b/c of our busy schedules...

Sunday: Chicken Spaghetti, fresh broccoli/carrots

Monday: (I met some girlfriends for dinner) Brad/Hudson had leftover chicken spaghetti and veggies

Tuesday: We had a date night (our neighbors kept Hudson)..we did a date night rotation. ;)

Wednesday: We kept our neighbors (Will and James)..Brad had Clam Chowder (from Whole Foods- it was on sale!!;). I made the boys hot dogs, french fries, carrots and sliced apples

Thursday: Quiche , tator tots (and possibly french toast).

Friday/Saturday are typically "grill-out" nights or eat out nights (depending on the "budget"!;).

Okay, so this week wasn't a good week to share our menu...it's been pretty easy! ;)

I do alot of cooking/preparing in the morning before I even leave for work OR I use Hudson's nap time (depending on what I'm making). As you can see I still cook "simple" and convenient.. it's just the season of life we're in. However, I do try my very best to make things that are HEALTHY and I can assure you EVERYthing I make/cook/bake is filled with lots of LOVE!!! ;) I know it sounds "cheesy" but I honestly get such satisfaction in cooking for my family...I was like this even when Brad and I dated! ;)

I told a girlfriend the other night that as much as Brad compliments my looks and tells me I'm "beautiful"..it probably means more to me when he compliments my cooking! {I know it may seem strange but that's just "ME"!;)}

While I may be productive in this area I certainly lack in others... I've got a load of laundry I'm about to go fold, clean dishes that need to be unloaded (but will probably wait until Brad gets home!;), floors that need to be swept, mirrors that need to be cleaned, etc...

WOW- I've got a lot to do before my little man wakes up! ;)

We are having a great time enjoying this beautiful fall weather! After a week of rain..it's nice to see the sunshine and some cooler temps! ;) A perfect weekend for pickin' our pumpkin(s)!! ;)

It was so fun running in to our dear friend Jack, his momma (Robin) and new baby brother (Garrick-3 weeks;). Jay (Jack's dad) is one of the golf coaches at UVa...this is a crazy/busy time for Jay with traveling, tournaments, etc... so it's always nice to get together with Robin while her baby daddy's gone! ;) haha!! ;)

Yes, I look like a MESS but I thought this was great of both boys...I can't believe they were BOTH looking AND smiling!!! ;) {I was clearly going for the "wind-blown" look!} :/

On the way home Brad and I discussed all the things we bought..let's begin: 2 large pumpkins, 1 baby pumpkin, 3 hayride tickets, 1 cheeseburger (we kind of all 3 split;), 1 order of french fries, 1/2 dozen apple cider donuts (NO-we did not eat them all), 1 bottled water, 2 cups hot apple cider and about 9 fresh picked Fuji apples. Doing any kind of "family-fun" can put a small dent in the wallet... but a happy 2 year old and a happy mom/dad= PRICELESS!!! ;)

Doggy Sitting

We've had a great weekend... Brad went on an over-night fishing trip on the Eastern shore (Chesapeake Bay) with some of the guys from our Lifegroup (from church). They had a great time and I hope to post pictures soon!

Hudson and I had a fun friday night and Saturday together... he has really taken a "liking" to his firetruck/floor puzzle. I think it helps that our 3 1/2 year old neighbor (Will) likes it so much! ;) So, Hudson and I must have put this thing together at least 5 times on Saturday morning... he loved putting pieces together, taking pride in his work, taking it apart..and starting all over {and of course, mommy had to help a little!}.

We enjoyed spending some time with our good buddy, David...later that afternoon. Hudson loved David's sand table!

And...we did a little "doggy sitting" this weekend for our neighbors. Hudson loved getting to play with Will's dog, General. When we told General to "sit"..Hudson wanted to as well. ;)

Of course, Hudson wanted to use General as his personal pony. ;)

I think this is where he asked General to "please, walk"...good manners but General wasn't having it. ;)

**We also had an amazing service at church today...I have to be honest I truly feel convicted sometimes with how little I talk about Jesus {even on my blog!}. I often wonder at the end of the day and sometimes at the end of a week...did anyone truly KNOW that I love Jesus or even think "she must be a Christian"?! And often times, I realize my answer is "NO". If you think about when Jesus asked his disciples to "FOLLOW ME"...there was very little conversation. They just dropped their nets and followed him...and now we {I} say YES, Jesus I love you, I'll follow you...yet there is little action!? I want that change... sure I talk about God/Jesus on a daily basis with my son, my husband, close friends...but what about the non-believers?! Or just people God puts in my path?

I sit here challenged...wanting to put FAITH to work/action!!! ;)

Well, it's been awhile...and I can't believe we haven't told the blog world BUT....

Hudson is going to be a BIG BROTHER in March!!! :) {This picture was taken in early August when we told family and some close friends!}

This was taken the other day with Brad's camera phone... Hudson loves talking on his pretend phone (from his play kitchen)...so while he talked I thought what better time for an updated picture (that's why his shirt is just thrown on top of his other one!;).

"That's right everyone, I'm gonna be a BIG BROTHER!!!" ;)

After some of my friends started asking when I planned to blog or post the news... it hit me that we're getting far along in this journey so I better get to sharing!! ;) Plus, I like blogging about this kind of stuff...what I'm craving, my thoughts, feelings, emotions, Brad's excitement, Hudson's excitement, etc... so get ready for some fun posts about being preggo for the second time! ;) Also, I LOVE my doctor here.. I loved my doctor in MS and I'm so thankful to have found one I'm equally as comfortable with. The only catch... this doctor is a little bit on the "watch your weight gain" side.. so if you don't mind I may use the blog to hold me accountable (as long as the numbers on the scale don't jump TOO much!;). My doctor actually told me he'd trust me to wait 6 weeks (when we get our ultra sound) as long as I don't go crazy with the weight gain... my response "as long as I see you before Thanksgiving!" ;)

Alot of my friends that use AND highly recommended this doctor warned me about how he feels with too much weight gain, etc... but I'm not in the slightest bit intimidated or concerned.

I actually like that he cares for our baby and my health so much! ;)

Brad recorded this video a few nights ago while giving Hudson his bath. He has a number of favorite songs but "Tinkle, Tinkle little star" and his A-B-C song have been at the top of his "play list" lately! I always love it when we're able to capture these cute moments on camera or video! ;)

UVA Football and a package!!!! ;)

We've had a great Saturday...I apologize that my pictures are completely out of order but hopefully you'll be able to follow along! ;) This afternoon (after Hudson's nap) Brad and Hudson headed to the UVA football game. They really hated to leave me behind and I did hate to miss Hudson's first experience at a college football game but with Brad traveling so much right now for work I really appreciated the mommy {me} time!!! ;) Besides, Brad said Hudson "could not have been better"...and we've started realizing sometimes H "acts out" worse when we're all together {which can make family time challenging at times?!}.

I LOVE this picture...Brad was great at taking some pictures with his camera phone. It's extremely convenient that Auburn and UVA share the same school colors. ;) Hudson has been talking ALL evening about the football game, seeing the Cavaliers play and getting to sit with his good buddy (and neighbor), Will (age 3 1/2). ;)

He's been asking..."when can I go back to the football game?" And Brad said he actually listened and followed the game well...and cheered for every touchdown! ;) Today's weather was a PERFECT day for football!!

One of my personal highlights of today...THIS package from NANA (Brad's mom)! It was like an unexpected early Christmas present...a large box FULL of fall/winter clothes for Hudson that she's been collecting/buying the past couple of weeks! And get this...she gave him not one, not two but FIVE monogrammed long-sleeve shirts...all different fonts/styles and colors...I was THRILLED!!! :) :) It's been a long time since I've gotten anything monogrammed for Hudson..I've ordered seasonal things with his name on them {sometimes I just can't help myself} but with the thought of having another boy one day I've been trying to limit the monogramming...however, I'll take it as a gift ANY day!!!!! :) THANKS a TON, Nana!!!! ;) {And Hudson LOVES his book!}

So..here's where the "out of order" begins..this morning we had a successful time at soccer, had a delicious lunch at Riverside Grill, and practiced riding our bike. The special thing about this bike is it's daddy's bike from when he was a young child...pretty cool, huh?! I'm amazed at all the things Brad's parents have kept through the years...seriously impressive! Sadly, I enjoy getting rid of things way TOO much...but I'm sure I'll hold on to the extremely sentimental "items"! ;)

The helmet is an "issue" but it's helmet or no bike. Safety first! ;)

And...just before nap time we practiced our T-ball... such a great day to be outside!! :)

And...I must end this post with a great big WAR EAGLE!!! Auburn beat South Carolina today in a very close and nerve racking end... 16 to 13! WAR EAGLE!!!! :)

A taste of FALL!!!!

YES! We are still here... I can't believe how LONG it's been since I last blogged. I won't lie..I've been lacking a little motivation. :/ PLUS, I've been terrible at remembering my camera when we go on our fun adventures..and when I DO remember it I often forget to take the pictures?! But just to give a re-cap...Granddaddy (Brad's dad) came for a quick visit (we had a great/FUN time!;), we've watched some good college football (not necessarily "OUR" teams but we DO love some good college football!;), my FALL television line-up has started back (The Office, Glee, Parks & Rec, Dancing w/ the Stars, etc..), and my Mom/Dad came for a visit!! We did some fun things while they were here... watched the sunset and a fun wine-tasting at Carter's Mtn, picked apples, made apple desserts, took my parents out to a great dinner (we got a babysitter for Hudson) AND we took them to downtown/historic Fredricksburg. Ya'll, I had no idea how great F'burg is... the active downtown was incredible..streets and streets of boutiques, ice cream shops, coffee shops, museums, restaurants, etc.. it was AMAZING!!! ;) Not to mention some adorable shops that sold {everything} Tori Burch!!! I was tempted to purchase an adorable purse (for my upcoming NYC trip;) but NO, I didn't break the bank...sadly, I'm a little too cheap but I DO love to look!!! ;) I DID, however, buy Hudson some new fall clothes...it's amazing what I'm willing to spend money on now that I'm a mom! ;)

Okay, so on to my "taste of fall"... the weather is FINALLY starting to cool-off... high's in the 50's this weekend PEOPLE..can you say scarves, hats, and maybe even BOOTS??!! ;) Anyhow, with the cooler temps I've been really feeling the baking bug...so I made some delicious S'more COOKIES!! I didn't take a picture but they were a cross between these 2 images I posted! They were seriously simple and even more TASTE-Y! ;)

Okay, well I'll be back soon... in the meantime, ya'll please say a prayer for my parents! They leave TODAY for a 12 day "pilgrimage" trip to Israel! A trip of a lifetime and certainly at the TOP of their "bucket list"... I'm so thrilled for them but I do pray for safe travel and even MORE safety while they are there!! ;)

Hudson's adorable phone conversation!

I normally post pictures with each of my blog posts but NO picture this time... just funny-cuteness! ;)
Hudson has been having some hilarious phone conversations on his "pretend" phone in his play-kitchen (the phone is by far his favorite part... and maybe the microwave TOO!;)... his conversation (to whom ever he was talking to) went like this...

2 year old...SOCCER!!!

I had to start this post to show off Hudson's new Auburn football shirt...I had it made around his 2nd b-day (in May) but I've been saving it for FOOTBALL season! I still need to purchase at least one more AU shirt for him (hint,hint Bee and Dee;)...too bad they don't sell AU shirts in the hometown of UVA!?! CrAzInEsS!!?? ;)

This is how we started Thursday (right before Hudson's first soccer "practice"...). Don't you just love the "tighty whities"! ;)

Notice no shin-guards...which was totally not a surprise! We'll be returning them ASAP! ;)

TWO year old soccer is ~~probably~~ exactly what you imagine... a little kicking the ball, a little playing in the dirt, a little "not wanting to cooperate", ALOT of distractions, but also FUN!! ;)

Hudson was a little distracted by two of his "older" friends (3 year olds) playing on a different "team" on the other side of the field... so Coach Matt was extremely supportive and let Hudson play with the 3-year-olds for a couple of minutes. ;)

This picture makes me laugh... there were actually several "moments" that made me laugh! :) I think the boy next to Hudson is almost 5 years old...which is hysterical that Hudson is so drawn to older kids?!?!

By this time Hudson had drifted back with the 2-year olds... they were all having fun racing their soccer balls down the hill... I think Hudson beat his soccer ball!!! ;)

Toward the end of practice {on Thursday} Hudson was really enjoying the big goal, along w/ one of his little "team-mates" :)

Here we are to Saturday (today) and even though I don't have as many pictures... I personally think today was a little more successful for all the 2-year-olds! ;) We're with a little league that is sponsored through our local JAG school...it's fairly well-organized but basically run by the parents so Brad really stepped in today and helped with the corralling and "practice" (aka- fun ways to teach the game of soccer to 2-year-olds;).

Hudson did not want ANYone getting his soccer ball...especially when he kicked it into the goal! Yes, our current "hurdle" is sharing!! As I think 90% of two-year old parents would agree?! ;)

I think it was as successful of a soccer day as it could be! ;)

Now...I'm currently enjoying a beautiful sunny day, watching my team (Auburn) play MSU while my little man naps...it really is a GREAT Saturday!!! :) Gotta L-O-V-E college football!!! WAR EAGLE!!! ;)

First day of 2-year-old Pre-school!

That's RIGHT... today was Hudson's first day of 2 year-old Pre-school! He along with the other 13 kids in his class did FANTASTIC... we've been talking about his new teachers (Miss Pat and Miss Jill) for awhile, so he was ready for his new class! ;)

Hudson is proudly wearing his NEW shoes that we just bought yesterday...I really need to start documenting the issues this kid has with SHOES! The only shoes he'd wear all summer were his CROCS (he's already on his third pair because they have fallen apart...literally!) and he needed better "school" shoes...so I convinced him that Miss Pat and Miss Jill gave me "special instructions" on the type of shoe he could wear to school...now he calls these his "running shoes" and is willing to wear them only to show-off his fast SPEED!! ;) But I know the day will come where he will pitch a F-I-T for his CROCS or boots (praise the Lord Fall/Winter are just around the corner!;)

RAIN is on our 7-day forecast...but it is bringing cooler temps which I LOVE!! ;)

Hudson was pretty much done with pictures at this point! ;)

I know you can't tell...but Hudson was ALL SMILES when I picked him up! This is Miss Pat (Miss Jill was talking with other classroom parents). An "interesting"-fact about Miss Pat..she had 2 out of her 3 children at Virginia Tech in the Engineer building when that AWFUL shooting spree happened a few years back! Can you imagine?? She said it was "hands-down" the longest period of waiting before she got the call from her 2 boys saying they were SAFE...I seriously got tears in my eyes the first time she told me her story!! That has to be a mom's greatest FEAR!!! :(

On a happier note.. Hudson had a great first day and is already asking "Where did Miss Pat and Miss Jill go?" ;)

I hope ya'll remember our good friends, Carol and Tom Pohl (Carol and I were pregnant at the exact same time...and lived directly across the street from one another in Mississippi). I'm sure you can imagine all the fun we had discussing our cravings, the "yucky" preggo stuff, books we were reading to prepare us for motherhood, and just sharing our experience together! ;) Hudson (May 26, 2009) and Patrick (May 29, 2009)

This time we met the Pohl's (Tom, Carol, Patrick and newest addition..baby Tommy) at Tom's parents ski condo. It was an hour closer for us AND a very short drive from "Idle Wild" Kid's amusement park where we spent ALL day Saturday!! Minus the blazing HEAT we had a FABULOUS time and are thankful we got to join the Pohl's on their annual Idle Wild park visit!!! ;)

Hudson wasn't crazy about some of the rides...but he DID seem to love the Tea Cups! ;)

Lovin' the pony ride! Carol emailed me some fantastic pictures...some group pics and some good family pics but sadly I saved them to Brad's computer...I'll post them later (when he gets home!;).

Hudson REALLY loved the train ride around the amusement park...as did Momma!!! We actually stayed on for a couple of "rounds" and I took a little 5min cat-nap on Brad's shoulder..the walking and HEAT really did me in but the nap seemed to HELP!!! ;)

One of our favorite parts was the Storybook Land...you basically walk through all the nursery rhymes and Hudson has ALWAYS loved nursery rhymes!! ;)

Carol is always so sweet and thoughtful...not only did she have a homemade chicken pot-pie waiting in the oven when we arrived on Friday...she also gave Hudson his very own {toy} shaving kit which he LOVES!! ;)

We sure are thankful for the Pohl's and hope to keep our annual trip a tradition...I'll be sure to post more pictures from our trip! That sweet baby Tommy (4 1/2 months) is too adorable not the show-off!! ;)

Lovin' the Weekends!

We had another great weekend! Busy, but FUN! ;) Hudson and his good buddy, David LOVED playing at "Fridays at 5" in downtown C'ville... we met at "Five Guys" burger restaurant (a perfect place for kids) and walked to the concert.

Hudson and David loved holding hands.. it was precious!! ;) We ended up seeing over HALF of our street (neighbors) downtown... with the cooler temps {mainly in the mornings and evenings} I think EVERYone is enjoying all the outdoor festivities!! :)

Saturday morning we went with our new (moved here in June) neighbors to Carter's Mountain for a little EARLY apple picking and LATE peach picking...the "best" apples won't be ready for a couple of more weeks but we certainly picked some "tastey" ones! YUM YUM!! ;)

Hudson really gets into the "sport" of pickin'! ;)

William (3 1/2) and his brother James (aka Jeb..16 months) are some of our new neighbors. We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know their sweet family...and Hudson loves playing outside with them just about EVERY evening! ;)

I definitely think Carter's Mtn was a success and the Ballards seemed to LOVE it!!! I can't WAIT for the Apple Festival later in October... sooo much FUN to look forward to in my FAVORITE season... FALL!!! ;)

Not to mention... what starts this weekend????? GAME DAY!!!!! ;) ;) WOO HOO!!!! ;) WAR EAGLE!

We're also celebrating a VERY special birthday TODAY (August 29)... BRAD's!!!! His b-day dinner request: grilled steak, grilled corn-on-the-cob, re-stuffed baked potatoes, and green bean casserole. I better get to cookin'... and my little man should be waking from his nap any minute!

I'll be sure to post pictures but I'm soo excited about Brad's b-day cake... I bought the NEW Dairy Queen BLIZZARD (heath bar..Brad's favorite) cake...it looks too delicious to be true!!! ;)

Summer Accomplishments!!!

We have certainly accomplished alot this summer but 3 things come to mind {the most}... #1 We conquered the POTTY!!! I have to be completely honest...this was maybe the EASIEST thing (transition) I'll (we) ever experience in parenthood. Hudson just sort of adapted to it overnight (literally)...now he likes to "do it himself" which means he either STANDS and lifts the toilet seat or he climbs onto the toilet all by himself!!! While we may have a serious strong-willed kid on our hands I have to PRAISE the LORD for how easy Hudson "conquered" the potty...we're just AMAZED!! ;)

#2 We had some incredible SWIM LESSONS!!! I wish I had pictures (or even a video) to share but we ("Miss Jean" and I) discovered very quickly that Hudson was much more cooperative for her if I wasn't around...so I would go to the opposite side of the pool where he couldn't see me (but I could still see him). Hudson LOVED his swim instructor "Miss Jean"..he still asks about her (even though the lessons were way back in July). I know it may be hard to believe but Hudson can blow bubbles, hold his breath, kick and move his arms all at the same time. He jumps in and swims to the side or to the steps (which ever is closest). He would actually prefer to swim to the middle of the pool but that's one thing Miss Jean really worked with him on...water/pool safety! Miss Jean was always bragging on him...saying in all her 20+ years of instructing/coaching she honestly doesn't know if she'd ever seen a 2 year old with his coordination {I apologize for boasting but it was another proud momma/daddy moment}. ;) A BIG THANKS to my mom and dad (Bee & Dee) for the swim lessons (they were part of his b-day present!;).

Yes... we started the summer with an AWFUL case of the "No's"...oh, it was a serious, obnoxious, want to pull-your-hair-out case of the "NO's"...everything was a NO! And don't even think for 2 seconds it was a sweet little voice he used... it was a "Noooooo" (it's difficult to describe in writing but hopefully you get the point).

#3 We are now (about 95% of the time;) saying no THANK YOU, no ma'am, and no sir!!! ;) And yes, there is even a little bit of "Yes, please"... Brad is extremely pleased that Hudson is now saying "May I please" (something daddy has been working on with him;). I am sure the case of "No's" will never truly leave us but we are very pleased that Hudson's tone has improved and that he actually uses "No" with MANNERS!!! ;)

Well, as you can see we've accomplished alot this summer and we are THRILLED for the FALL that's only a few short weeks away!!! :) The other morning was 58 degrees here.. I almost cried with JOY!!! ;)

"Mommy, my house shake"...

Yes, that is the latest report from the Brown household...we experienced a 5.9 magnitude EARTHQUAKE today!!! For this southern girl..that was a traumatic experience..something I'll NEVER forget!!! Around 1:50pm the house began to shake and the sound that came with it seems impossible to describe... I honestly thought a train was coming through our house. While it may have lasted several seconds it felt like MINUTES... I ran to Hudson's room got him out of his crib and we stood in the doorway of his bedroom until it stopped. We were both a little shaken up {to say the least} for several minutes after it had stopped... Hudson kept saying "Mommy, my house shake, it scare me!" No real damage was done and it honestly feels like a weird/crazy dream now. Some picture frames had fallen on the floor and onto tables they were sitting on...but no damage in my kitchen, not even my hutch! ;)

Brad was enjoying our story-telling at dinner tonight.. Hudson kept shaking his little body to show daddy what the earthquake felt like..it was hilarious! ;) Brad asked Hudson, "who was with you during the earthquake".. Hudson didn't even hesitate and responded.. "GOD" ;) {Proud momma and daddy moment}

Now we'll be awaiting this beauty...after it visits my Carolina friends, first!? :( Hurricane Irene is expected {predicted} to hit Charleston and Myrtle Beach at the end of the week and by the weekend we're predicted to have Tropical Storm winds and rain... it's also predicted to be a Category 4 hurricane... YUCK! Stay safe!!!

I'm back...finally! I've actually been terrible about remembering our camera when we go places and I guess I think everyone's like me and likes a little "visual" with blog posts! ;) But after some local C'ville friends began telling me they were bored w/ Smith Mtn Lake pictures..I decided to make it a TOP priority to grab my camera before leaving the house. However, I only took 2 pictures.. ;)

Anyhow, it's been a BUSY weekend... it started w/ a fun surprise baby shower for my dear friend, Michele (she's having baby #2 in just a couple of weeks)..it was a HUGE success..tears and all!!! ;) I hope to get some pictures to post from some my friends... we ate at a super fun restaurant in downtown C'ville (Maya..on the patio!;).

Saturday was a fun day as well... Brad and his "4-man golf team" WON our annual neighborhood golf tournament..I can't explain the pride I have when my husband WINS a competitive event... I know Brad says "it's just for fun" but come on.. WINNING is an added bonus.. right?!?! ;)

Hudson and I attended David (3) and Gianna's (1) birthday party...the Hines are some of our dearest friends here in C'ville we absolutely adore them! ;) I (along w/ everyone else) think it's the coolest thing that David and Gianna share the EXACT same birthday 2 years apart..and NO, it was not planned!!!

Well, I promise to post more soon...we've been busy little Brown's these past couple of weeks and sadly I have very few pictures to share ;( . I would like to announce that my brother and sister-in-law had their sweet baby girl... Cameron Rose Fussell- August 9- 9lb 9oz {I hope to share pictures soon}. ;)

Smith Mountain LAKE!!!! ;)

We had a great couple of days at Smith Mtn. Lake... Hudson LOVED being on one of daddy's "work trips"! He actually got to see his daddy climb a water tank, meet with clients/customers, and watch all the fun "work stuff" daddy does on his iphone...I'd say it was a successful "work trip"! ;)

And going to the lake was by far the BEST part!

It took momma a little longer to jump in {it always does at the lake}...after several minutes of Brad/Hudson nagging me to JUMP in Hudson finally said.. "Mommy, I come push you in"...so he did! ;)

After a long afternoon on the boat it was nice to just chill out at the cabin/lake house... ;)

We had a GREAT time at Smith Mtn Lake... I think my husband is a pretty big ROCK STAR to invite us to tag-along and make such fun memories/family trips together!!! ;) THANKS, Brad..we LOVE YOU, daddy! ;) xoxo

Knee deep in the water somewhere...

Brad did it again... he invited Hudson and I to tag-along on a little work-related-mini-vacation (yes, they really do exist!;). We had an amazing little 48hour family vacation to VA BEACH!! ;)

Brad was waiting on the "perfect" wave to ride {as if this one wasn't good enough for a 2-year old!?}. ;)

Coming in from riding some waves (so thankful for this float!;). I think Daddy needed a break more than Hudson! ;)

Hudson kept waiting for the waves to "come and get him"... too cute! ;)

VA BEACH was crazy crowded...I guess I thought since I had never been there it must not be a popular beach?! haha! Turns out I was wrong! ;)

Hudson loved playing in the sand...he befriended a little 9 year old girl (named McKenzie) and they must have played in the sand for an hour+ but my batteries had died..so no picture!

You just wouldn't believe how much this child loves for his daddy to throw him up..higher and higher! Praise the Lord Brad is so young and fit...otherwise we'd be in bad shape with our wild little man! ;)

And YES- momma even got out in the ocean to battle some waves...I tell ya, they wore me out?! There were some rough waves in VA BEACH...I was surprised!? (We had stopped for a little snack break)

We loved walking on the board walk the next morning...Hudson saw this statue and said "Look, it's GOD!" I thought that was so clever of him, considering he's never seen an image of God (that I know of?;)!

We enjoyed playing in the ocean after our nice long walk! ;)

We never could get a good picture (with the lighting) but we had a beautiful view from our room/balcony! ;) THANKS daddy for inviting us along...it was a fantastic "mini" vacation!!! ;)

We certainly had a Grand Finale to end our 10 day trip in Georgia...we don't have any pictures but Hudson loved playing in Centennial park while we waited in line at the Georgia Aquarium. As ya'll can imagine..he LOVED the aquarium, TOO! ;)

It was tough leaving Georgia this time..I'm not sure if it was being with my mom/dad for an extended period of time, having constant support/help, or just being back in Georgia?! {maybe a combination of ALL 3!}

I already miss the smell of the Georgia mountains but we are home safe in Virginia (after a 12hour road trip yesterday...). Looking forward to the remaining weeks of summertime but awaiting the great season of AUTUMN!!! ;)

We had a fabulous day in the big ATLanta today! We started with a Georgia "delicacy".. The Varsity! You just haven't truly lived until you've clogged your arterties with their amazing FOOD! ;) I'm soo thankful my dad suggested it for lunch..it was so fun taking Hudson! ;)

We have been busy little bee's since arriving to Georgia LAST Thursday (July7)! I've relied on my mom (and her camera) to take all the pictures...

My cousin, Ashley (Uncle/Aunt not pictured) came all the way from Maryland for our family reunion in Birmingham, AL... the pictures didn't save on my mom's camera...bummer! :( But Ashley and my aunt Holly stayed w/ us a couple of nights..we had a GREAT time! ;)

I'm so thankful I was able to visit w/ some of my childhood BFF's and meet all their kiddos! Kim (to the right of me) flew in from California with her baby boy, Paul (3months old). ;) It was great seeing everyone! ;)

Massanutten H2O! ;)

This past Saturday we took Hudson to the Massanutten (indoor/outdoor) water park (about 45mins from our house). This place was perfect for our little fish! ;)

This was a gigantic tree-house-like indoor water area...full of water sprinklers, waterfalls, water traps, water drops and water slides! Hudson LOVED it..and daddy especially loved the adult water slides (and mommy, TOO!;).

We had a nice (and very low-key/relaxing) weekend but we sure did miss our friend Jessamie and Jason (and their precious little 14month old, Georgia). Jess called me Friday morning informing me her little girl was sick with the croup cough, a virus and the beginnings of an ear infection! :( We were "bummed" to say the least... but we are happy to hear that Georgia and her mom/daddy are on the mend! ;)

We'll look forward to their "Autumn" visit in September!! ;)

Not sure what you call this but "well-rounded" seems to fit?! ;) Hudson has a real shoe "fetish".. he's even opinionated about his OWN shoes and which ones he wears each day. As much as I try to hide my shoes/heels he somehow manages to find them!? If you've spent about 10+ minutes with our son you already know his shoe "obsession"! ;)

And the fact that he's cleaning our tub WHILE wearing my heels was just too funny not to share! ;)

Peach Pickin' & Water slides!

We had a fantastic Saturday! We started at the Peach orchard...

We loved pickin' peaches! ;)

It was especially fun eating the peaches and I made a delicious homemade peach cobbler that afternoon... Brad said it was my "best ever" (I give credit to the fresh picked peaches!;).

Hudson LOVES tractors! Such a southern boy! ;)

After nap time we took Hudson to the "North" pool in our neighborhood..the one with the "big slide"!! ;) Hudson just couldn't get enough of the big slide..he LOVED it (and of course daddy did, TOO!;)!

Hudson's favorite thing at the pool is running and jumping in to our arms...he's our fearless little fish! (Which can actually be frightening at times!)

Ya'll know momma had to join in all the fun..do NOT let this slide fool you..it was surprisingly FAST (seriously!)!! And yes, that's Hudson under his life jacket.. with his momma holding on for dear life!! haha! ;)

We've had a great weekend celebrating Father's DAY!! We started on Saturday at a local park with some our favorite people...

A delicious picnic, frisbee golf, a fun playground and happy kids... what could be better!?! ;)

BEE (my mom) came to stay!! ;) Brad has a crazy month of traveling and I can't thank my mom (and dad for letting my mom come) enough for coming for the entire week!! Here Hudson is kissing daddy through the phone one night! ;)

This morning Hudson and I had the BEST time going to Sesame Street LIVE at the John Paul Jones (JPJ) Arena in C'ville! We've been talking about it for days and Hudson has been SO excited! I went fully prepared for any and all possible melt-downs, tears, tantrums, etc... but Hudson LOVED it and was just perfect!!! :)

He clearly didn't want to be taking this picture but I just HAD to take one to remember this special occasion with my son! ;)

Here's the whole Sesame Street gang.. I wish ya'll could have seen Hudson, he was dancing, jumping, spinning around, clapping, etc.. He LOVED it!! He kept asking for more dance, more music, more Big Bird, etc... I absolutely adored watching the excitement and joy on his face! He has the most incredible expressions! ;)

I'm sad Brad couldn't make it... he is super busy with work! Thanks to Lina/Matt and the Hines family for letting us tag along this morning...we had a BLAST!! ;)

Recap of the weekend(S)

First of all, I've yet to tell ya'll about our anniversary "getaway"... Brad and I went last weekend (while we were home for Hudson's b-day party) to Atlanta. We stayed at the St. Regis (100% amazingnessss)...I can't say enough amazing things about that place!! ;) The service was incredible...we felt like William and Kate (ie, royalty!;). Our informative and extremely kind bellman offered us FREE Braves tickets for the night we were there...these were our seats!! This "William & Kate" were extremely thankful and veryyyy HAPPY!!! ;) GO BRAVES!!!

Now, onto this weekend...we started with a little live music and dancing at "Fridays at 5" in downtown C'ville! I know some friends of mine that would LOVE this and need to come VISIT... Jessamie and Jason (just to name a few!;).

We had a busy Saturday morning running errands and doing a little farmer's market shopping downtown. Later in the afternoon we met some of our friends to celebrate our good friend, Saul's birthday! We met at Walnut Creek Park...Hudson loves the "beach"!

This picture makes me laugh... Hudson was literally saying "watch mom"! :) He was trying to show me how he jumps under water... HAPPY B-day Saul..we had a great time playing in the warm sunshine!! :)

We hosted a little "kick-off to summer" in honor of Hudson turning TWO with some of our "local" friends late Sunday afternoon! ;) We had a great time letting the kids play in the "kiddy" pool and our neighborhood pool (across the street).

Here are the adorable cupcakes I ordered from "Capellino's Crazy Cakes" on the downtown mall. I love the sea shells, surf boards, dolphins, etc.. what a way to kick off the summer HEAT!! ;)

Yes, I think we've been singing the "Happy b-day song" for way too long...but we wanted to do it one last time with some of our good friends here in C'ville! I wish ya'll could hear Hudson singing it...he makes sure everyone gets a turn (Bee, Dee, Nana, etc..;)..he makes me smile! ;)

I'm disappointed I wasn't able to get a picture of the backdeck decorated for the party or a group shot of all the kids (I normally try hard to get one!)...but I can assure you they were a cute group of kiddos! ;)

There is no where else this kid would rather be! ;)

We had a fabulous time in Georgia celebrating Hudson's 2nd birthday! We decided to keep it simple and have a fun-filled family b-day party...all the grandparents, aunts, uncles, great-grandparents, and cousins along w/ some good friends...a great time was had by ALL!! ;)

TWO years ago today (May 26) the Lord blessed us with our amazing HUDSON!! As most of you know Brad and I decided to be "surprised" by the gender. During my labor our doctor asked what the names would be (for girl or boy, which we were also keeping a secret ;)...we told her and when Hudson was born she announced "he's a Hudson Michael"...it was one of the most incredible moments of our entire life!! I LOVED the way our doctor introduced him to the world!! ;)

Here we are at Hudson's 1st b-day...I seriously can't believe how fast time flies (especially with a child!). We are so thankful for Hudson's very active, adventurous, inquisitive, curious, fun-loving, outgoing, happy, joyful and VERY entertaining personality! ;)

We have a FUN b-day weekend planned with friends and family in Georgia...stay tuned for lots of fun pictures!! ;)

HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY to MY FaVoRiTe little man in the WHOLE wide WORLD, my HUDSON!!! :)

A Brown "first" + an ice cream social!

The Brown's definitely had a "first" this weekend...we made a HOMEMADE pizza!!! It may be shocking to some of you that I've never made a homemade pizza (as much as I love to cook)...but it's TRUE! Even the dough is homemade...and underneath all that cheese and pepperoni smiley-face is fresh pineapple, mushrooms, olives and more pepperoni! It was delicious...and Hudson was a great helper!!! ;)

And..today (Monday) was Hudson's last day of his one-morning a week pre-school. They had a fun little ice-cream social with all the parents...it was a ton of fun! ;)

Hudson's b-day is this Thursday (May 26) and another little boy in the class (Nash) will be 2 on May 29th...so his mom and I decided it would be a great time to sing HAPPY B-DAY as a class...ice cream sundaes + cupcakes= SUGAR HIGH (craziness)!!! :)

Hudson loved his Birthday crown that Miss Hope and Miss Kim (his teachers) gave him! ;)

As most of you know, Brad is a Georgia Bull"dawg" fan and I am an Auburn Tiger (2011 National Champions!!)...YES, we are a divided household! Brad loves giving my mom a hard time about football, Auburn, and anything in between...I think this video pretty much sums it up! Even though I do NOT support UGA in any way...this really is SUPER cute!! haha! ;)

Brad and I are reading this book with our Lifegroup from church...I honestly can't say enough great things about it! It's such an incredible and biblical perspective on parenting...it's been so "eye-opening"! It's so true that the central focus of parenting is the gospel! One of my favorite quotes from the book:

"The purpose for your authority in the lives of your children is not to hold them under your power, but to empower them to be self-controlled people living freely under the authority of God."

I love that the book is so biblically based... I know for Brad and I we are in the "midst of the beginning" of real discipline. This book is full of clear, biblical and practical teaching for parenting.

I just thought I'd pass it along {recommend} for anyone that might be interested!! ;)

Okay, I told ya'll I'd post some pics from our trip to the White River (Ozarks) in Arkansas. This was one of our many "spontaneous" trips...I think we talked about it on a Monday and left on a Wednesday (it was during my first summer {2008} as a teacher...LOVED having summers off!;).

To begin this post... Brad convinced me we'd be staying at a nice Bed and Breakfast. Let's just say we pulled up to the sketchiest Motel on the side of the highway...it was NO "B&B" but after I let Brad know my disappointment (and frustration) we had a VERY fun time! ;) (I'm sure ya'll that know Brad can totally see him convincing me of this nice "B&B";)..haha!!

This trip was totally for Brad..everything we did was 100% outdoors..not to mention 6 hours of FISHING!!! I'd just like to say {for the record} I caught the max limit of fish...while Brad barely caught 5! ;)

In Brad's defense..I did have the fishing guide helping me! ;)

You can tell I'm not a "natural" at holding fish! haha! ;)

This was the beginning of our 17 mile canoeing trip...another fun "Brad fact"..I would turn around and find Brad fishing out the canoe while I pulled all the weight {TRUE STORY}! But wait for it...

HAHAHAHA!! This picture cracks me up...ya'll that know me can imagine my frustration and exhaustion by mile 13 (or 14) with no sign of our "B&B" in sight! Apparently, this lovely couple noticed (and heard) my frustration and asked if we'd like some help...so they pulled us all the way back to our "B&B"..haha! ;)

We really did have an amazing time on that trip...I hope you enjoyed going back down memory lane with me! It's hard to believe this was almost 3 years ago (it was sometime in early August 2008). Maybe next time I'll do a post on BOSTON!! ;)

Fabulous FIVE!!!

FIVE years ago today (May 13) Brad and I said "I DO". And I certainly DO believe it has been a fabulous and fun 5 years!! :)

Leaving our reception in the limo...saying goodbye! It really was one of the HAPPIEST days of our life! ;)

On our honeymoon in St. Lucia!

A year later we went to LA (California) to visit one of my childhood bff's. Here we are standing in front of the HOLLYWOOD sign! We have made some of the most incredible memories...I love our sweet life together! ;)

A quick trip to Las Vegas with my parents!

Some of you may not know about this trip...Oh, the funny stories I could share (I'll do a post soon!;). We went on a trip to the White River (Ozarks) in Arkansas...this trip was full of canoeing (17 miles UP stream!), fishing, hiking, horseback riding, etc... Yep, you can imagine the funny stories!!! ;)

And..probably my favorite vacation together thus far (not including the trip to Disney World w/ my parents while we dated)...BOSTON!! We had the most incredible time...we love that city!! :)

BTW- I was about 14 weeks pregnant here...we went right before Thanksgiving so when we came home we shared our news with everyone!! ;)

And who could forget the proudest moment of our lives... (May 26, 2009) ;)

About 15 months later Brad and I decided it was time for a little "R&R"...so we headed down south to KEY WEST!! ;)

*Hudson had a fabulous time staying with his Bee and Dee!* ;)

Here we are 5 years later! This year will also make 10 years TOGETHER (we dated all through college;). Most of ya'll know I just can't PRAISE the Lord enough for the amazing man Brad is to me, Hudson and EVERYone he meets! I could go on and on about all the reasons I LOVE and ADORE Brad but in honor of 5 years I'll give 5 reasons:

1. He loves, seeks and trusts the Lord with all his mind, strength and soul.

2. He is a phenomenal father and an incredibly FUN dad! ;)

3. He willingly washes dishes and unloads the dishwasher.

4. He enjoys watching GLEE with me (he's about 79% "gleek";).

5. He pursues my heart every. single. day.

Okay, 5 just isn't enough...I'll share one more reason (I mean we are going in to year #6 ;).

#6. Brad is the MOST servant-hearted man I KNOW (there is NOTHING he won't do for someone!).

Brad, Life is better, sweeter and alot more FUN because of YOU! xoxo

Fun Mother's Day Weekend!

We had a great weekend...and I especially had a fabulous Mother's day weekend!!! ;) I want to show Granddaddy (Brad's dad) how much Hudson is LOVING his Plasma Car...he rides it like it's his bike and he is a master at steering that thing!! ;)

When Brad got home Friday afternoon..we went straight to "Friday's at 5" in downtown C'ville to meet some of our good friends! It's a fun FREE event that C'ville has EVERY Friday from April-September with live music, activities for the kids, hotdog/nacho vendors, wine/beer vendors, etc... it's a TON of fun!!

Our good friend, Matt and his son, David..we love the Hines!! Hudson and David were lovin' their suckers...it's amazing the joy a little piece of candy brings a child! ;)

Hudson loves music and loves dancing...so you can imagine how much he LOVED "Fridays at 5"! ;)

And for my Mother's day gift we had some pictures of Hudson taken on Saturday morning at UVA... I can't wait to share some of the pics with ya'll!! ;) I think the photographer got some great shots!! :) We had the BEST Saturday...after the pictures we stayed around the University and let Hudson run around, had some yummy Dunkin Donuts, and I got to do a little "fun" shopping at some of the local boutiques..FUN, FUN!! ;)

*I missed alot of great picture moments... my camera battery died after I took this picture! Bummer!*

I hope all you special Mom's out there had a FABULOUS Mother's day weekend!!

I meant to post this yesterday but I'd especially like to give MY MOM a shout out for being the BEST Mom on the Planet and having such a positive impact on my life!!! ;) And to my Mother-in-law who had the privilege of raising the most incredible man I know!! ;)

Hudson enjoyed his Easter "treats" this morning! Bee and Dee sent him a sweet little card and the adorable little Bee (beside Hudson's Easter basket) and look what Nana sent him...

Nana (Brad's mom) sent this great package filled with some adorable clothes, books, DVD's and the stuffed bunny...THANKS Nana! ;)

Hudson refused to wear his white Ked's to church... he kept saying "No mommy, boots...No mommy, boots"(it was more of a tantrum than the cute voice you may be hearing in your head..haha!!). What can I say..my kid's got southern ROOTS! ;)

Outside our church...we loved spending a little extra time this morning visiting with our good friends and letting the kids play! It was a beautiful Easter Sunday! :)

EaStEr Brunch and Egg HuNt! ;)

This Saturday (April 23) we hosted several of our friends for an Easter Brunch and Egg Hunt...we had the BEST time! :)

We did the egg hunt across the street at the soccer fields which worked out perfectly. Hudson is waiting patiently (something we are always working on;) for his friends to catch up...

Loving the egg hunt... the kids loved eating the candy and treats! Hudson surprisingly has a "strong" sweet-tooth, so I put yogurt covered raisins in some of the eggs...he was thrilled showing everyone his "nandy"! hahaha! We'll see how long it lasts until he realizes it's NOT chocolate! ;)

Yep! That's right...I turned 28 years old yesterday (April 19)! It was a great day celebrating...Brad is always so thoughtful with making my birthday a very special day! It's crazy to think that we've been celebrating our birthdays together since we were 18 years old! I'm a few months older but Brad will catch up when August rolls around! ;)

I LOVE this antique"ish" bird cage/picture display my parents gave me and I could not stop eating the delicious "edible" arrangement Brad's mom sent me! YUMMY! ;)

Brad's Aunt Teresa and Uncle Michael are so thoughtful (as is his ENTIRE family)...they are all so good at remembering b-days! Seriously, it HAS to be a God-given gift when people remember EVERY family member's b-day (in-laws included! ;). Teresa/Michael gave me this adorable door mat and some personalized stationary (get ready for some hand-written letters! ;). And...I was surprised with an adorable voice message of our neice, Mallory (5) and nephew, Jackson (4) singing me HAPPY BIRTHDAY...I saved it!! ;)

I had to take a picture of the card my precious friend, Katie mailed me! She wrote.. celebrating 10 years of friendship and hoping for 40 more to come! Seriously made me choke up...I never had a sister but I have the most incredible bond with my girlfriends! I've known Katie for as long as I've known BRAD (first day of college) and we've been best friends ever since! ;)

And...you won't believe what my sweet hubby surprised me with...

The second band I had been talking about {possibly} getting for our 5 year ANNIVERSARY coming in MAY! That little "sneaky"...I was blown away with surprise!! ;) Brad and I both love surprises but I think he was having a difficult time waiting until May!? You'll have to stay tuned for some upcoming "sneak peeks" of what we're doing for our 5 year wedding anniversary... we are both THRILLED to say the least!!! :)

To complete the fun b-day...Brad made me dinner: BACON wrapped scallops (Jessamie!;), asparagus, scalloped potatoes and parmesan/creamed spinach... delicious!!! (I have the most amazing husband!;)

I love this picture of my parents walking with Hudson in SSI... he is definitely Bee's boy. Hudson would not settle down until Bee came back to walk beside him and hold his hand...it was extremely funny and adorable! ;)

So unbelieveably thankful for these amazing girls! I truly love everything about them! ;) We were at Laura (in the middle) and Ryan's rehearsal dinner in Reedsville, Georgia...seriously GOOD FOOD! I'll be talking about that sweet tea and SALAD DRESSING for awhile! ;)

I guess we weren't full enough from the rehearsal dinner...so we decided to visit WAFFLE HOUSE at 12:30AM!! I don't think I've done the Waffle House "thing" since I was in college...but we had a BLAST! ;)

Laura was such a beautiful BRIDE...and I LOVED her yellow shoes!! :) This wedding was incredible...I wish I had taken more pictures but the dancing got the best of me! ;)

I was sad to see the weekend/vacation come to an end! I love my friends here in C'ville but there is NO DOUBT that I miss the SOUTH... the deep south! ;) A fun fact... Brad and I did some calculating on our way home yesterday. Any guesses on the amount of miles we traveled by car in the past 5 days... 1,677 MILES! Yep, but it was worth it! ;)

Yesterday (Wednesday) we set out from Virginia, to North Carolina, South Carolina and FINALLY to Georgia...arriving in ST. SIMONS! ;) It was a long car ride but we are so thankful for how well Hudson did...we promised LOTS of WATER and he would NOT let us forget it! ;) We quickly unpacked our things at the condo and headed straight for the beach... (even if it was 7pm...we are parents of our WORD and had to take our little man!;)

Here Hudson is running... just to see his excitement was well worth EVERY minute of the 10 1/2 hour road trip!

Sadly, I didn't get a picture of Hudson with the birthday boy but here Jack is with his little friend, Olive. What a FUN 2-year-old birthday party at The Little Gym...Robin and Jay (Jack's parents) are great hosts! ;)

Here we are in a big group (this is the best I could do). Robin and I have a Tuesday night tradition... we meet at Chick-fil-a (with Hudson and Jack, of course!) for dinner and then drive across the street to our Little Gym class! Brad's dad (Grandaddy) gave Hudson his Little Gym membership/session for Christmas and I don't think there could be a BETTER gift for Hudson! ;)

He LOVES the balance beam...I think it's the challenge he likes the most?!

YAY! Hudson is so proud (and mommy/daddy TOO) when he walks it by himself! :)

And what little boy doesn't LOVE to climb? Hudson is well-known for being an excellent climber AND jumper (there's nothing this child won't climb or jump off of...you can only imagine mommy/daddy's exhaustion with saying "NO")!

Yesterday (Saturday) Hudson and I had fun running errands and enjoying some Mommy/son time (we left daddy at home to strip wall-paper in our master bathroom...such a fantastic husband and daddy he is!! ;). We love listening to music in the car, talking, singing, etc... this particular time we were singing one of our favorites.. "This little light of mine." When we reached a red-light, I stopped singing, adjusted the rear-view mirror and made eye-contact with Hudson... what I said went a little like this...

Hudson, it won't always be easy to let your little light shine. We live in a dark world but NEVER let the world change you...you let your LIGHT shine for Jesus! You do NOT stand on sinking sand, you stand a SOLID ROCK! Never let the world blow out your light..YOU SHINE!!

I went on to explain it a little more...

Not only did Christ die on the cross for YOUR soul, or mommy and daddy's soul...he died for B and D's, for Nana's and for Grandaddy's SOUL! We are called to let our little light shine and our prayer is that God will use YOU and your LIGHT to brighten this world and change lives for HIS Kingdom!

I continued looking at Hudson in the rear-view mirror...and said "OK"? Hudson replied.. "Otay, Mommy"

It was a sweet moment and I love having those conversations with Hudson...you may not believe he gets it but we don't think a child is EVER too young! ;)

We went on to sing... "This little of light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine..." :)

Crazy Night!?!

I know this is not a very "happy" picture of Hudson but it's a perfect "visual" and illustration for our Crazy Night! Let's begin...

Yesterday (Thursday) I picked Hudson up from the childcare/Kidzone at my gym and his body temp. was on FIRE...got home and he had a fever of 103. After just completing a round of Antibiotics for a bronchial infection a little over a week ago I took no chances and immediately made a doctor's appt. Both Strep and Flu test came back negative (Praise the LORD!), the doctor says it's a VIRUS and to continue with Motrin and Tylenol to reduce the fever! So... the picture you see was taken around 5:30pm after daddy took him out saying... "fresh air will be good for him"...live and learn DADDY! ;) A round of Motrin and a luke-warm bath really helped...Hudson had a semi-descent dinner and hit the bed EARLY (he was exhausted after a day a battling a high-fever)...now let's get to the "time-line"..

2:30AM- Hudson cries out.. he is on FIRE (again). No need to even take his temp. we knew it was in the 103 range! Another round of Motrin, cold rags and back to bed we went.

4:10AM- Hudson cries out again...NO fever but was laying in a very WET sheet due to sweating out the fever. Changed the sheet and layed him down around 4:45AM.

5:45AM- Hudson cries out again..this time it was NOT a normal "I'm uncomfortable please come help me" cry...it was a FEARful cry. It concerned me so much I actually RAN upstairs (you gotta REALLY concern me to make me run ANYwhere at 5:45AM ;). It seemed to be some kind of NIGHTMARE..it was so sad, he was shaking and just need to be held, loved, nurtured, etc..

Now, I gotta be honest... by 5:45AM I've lost a little of the sympathy due to exhaustion! (*side-note: it takes me a VERY long time to fall back asleep once I've been woken up...no matter what time of night!) So, after praying all night for healing and rest/sleep for Hudson (and Brad and I) I find myself "bargaining" with God...PLEASE give me at least one more hour of sleep (it IS my Spring Break), so on...etc.. I layed Hudson back down around 6:15AM (by this time Brad is up for the day and getting ready to leave for work)...much to my delight (answered prayer) he sleeps until 8AM. I go upstairs to be welcomed by an extremely grumpy and cranky little boy. I rub his back.. he falls back asleep until 8:30AM. He seems a little happier but this time he says "Mommy rock". I sit down in the rocking chair and he falls asleep on me until 9:10AM! Hudson wakes up..looks me dead in the eyes (with his very weak and tired eyes) and says "Mommy, moatmeal (aka-oatmeal)"...SERIOUSLY- Have you EVER heard of such a CRAZY night?!?! The GOOD NEWS- Hudson hasn't had a fever since 2:30AM (and we haven't used Motrin/Tylenol since then either). I'm also beginning to think it could be his 2-year MOLARS!?! Either way I'm prayerfully hoping our night is NOT as crazy tonight! ;) I hope you are feeling much more rested than I am today! ;) HAPPY FRIDAY! :)

TOO EASY (and Delicious) not to share! ;)

I absolutely LOVE following blogs..especially my friends (old & new;). My MS friend (and blog friend), Alison is always sharing delicious dessert recipes that she makes for her small group, adoption-support group, etc... and believe it or not I've made EVERY recipe she's ever shared (I already had the delicious chocolate chip pound cake recipe but it's amazing and I'm thankful she shared it!;). This oreo-ice cream pie has become one my favorite...not only because it's super-delicious but it's incredibly EASY and convenient (which is a PLUS in this busy-mommy season of life! ;)

What you need:

2 graham cracker crusts

1 container/quart of Vanilla ice cream

1 16oz container of Cool Whip (I only use about 3/4 of the Cool Whip)

1 package of OREOS (I buy the ones from Whole Foods) crushed/crumbled

*Set the ice cream out for about 5-10 mins (to thaw a little..but not too much) fold in cool whip and crushed oreos. Mix together and pour in graham cracker crusts (this makes TWO pies)! Top with remaining oreos and RE-freeze!*

VOILA...you have dessert for you/your family and one to share! PERFECT and delicious! ;)

Hudson & Jack

Hudson and Jack are the best of buds. We can't drive by Chick-fil-a or The Little Gym without Hudson talking all about JACK (I'll be sure to do a post soon on our Tuesday nights at Chick-fil-a and The Little Gym ;)! And Jack always talks about Hudson when he and his mom/dad drive by our church... it's just the sweetest thing to see two young boys adore each other as much as they do! ;)

Jack always greets Hudson with a big bear hug...while Hudson is always trying to "lead the pack" by getting into "mischief" (such as..going upstairs when they're not supposed to, playing in the dog's water bowl, pulling bottles out of the recycle bin, you get the picture...;). Either way..these two are fun to watch! ;) I love listening to their "conversations" and watching them interact..adorable! ;)

Lots of laughs! :)

Clearly technology is taking over this generation.. YIKES!? ;)

The Truth is...

I often miss Mississippi! Life was sweet and "simple" in Mississippi...we have an amazing life here in VA but there's just something special about Mississippi!? You almost have to LIVE there to truly understand what I'm talking about.

I often think about coming home and seeing Brad through our back window in his "jon-boat" fishing in the pond behind our house. I often think about our neighbors...walking in to each other's house like it was our own. I often think about the late-evening walks Brad and I would take around our neighborhood (b/c the weather was warm/mild 9 months out of the year) even after we had Hudson.

I often miss our precious HOUSE (The first house Brad and I owned! The house we brought Hudson home to. I seriously LOVE that house and always WILL!;), the pond in our backyard, our "extended" back deck, our friends, our neighbors (who were also our friends but more like family!;), Canton Academy (where I taught Pre-K), my teacher friends, my adorable students, coaching soccer, my soccer girls, our church (even though I'm falling more in love w/ our church every week here in C'ville), the Canton Flea Market, Mistle Toe, my gym (I seriously miss my gym in Mississippi! ;), children/teens of all ages using "ma'am" and "sir" (it is a MAJOR pet-peeve of mine to hear a child say "huh" and "what" to an adult...it could seriously make me SCREAM!), wearing shorts/skirts/capri's in February and sometimes earlier (my legs haven't seen sunlight since late September..winter is brutal here!), the 6 hour trip home to Georgia/family (compared to the 9+ hour from VA), people knowing what fried pickles are and REAL sweet tea.

I even miss Brad having {good} hunting land within 30 miles of our house and a golf course in walking distance...did I mention missing our HOUSE?! haha! ;)

Well, I miss you Mississippi... you did something to me. I didn't like you for about the first 9months but once we made a few friends, found a church-home/family and settled into a sweet little house you won my heart forever! ;)

I've been wanting to blog about this for awhile...sometimes "blogging out" my feelings just makes it all better...do you agree? It's somewhat like praying...but everyone is hearing my thoughts and reading my prayers! ;) ;) Happy Sunday ya'll! ;) I hope your church service/worship was as wonderful as ours! ;)

Dear Bee and Dee-

Thank you for your time, patience, love and affection! I love you and wish I could live closer to my grandparents... I hear mom and dad talking about it often but I have to learn to be content (mom uses that word often! ;).

Thank you for giving my mom and dad time to themselves... I know they are so appreciative and thankful for FREE babysitting (I can be a "handful" sometimes! ;). I can tell how important it is for my mom and dad to have date-nights and they're so thankful for your encouragement and support to have quality time together...it makes them better parents! ;)

I am anxiously awaiting our next visit/adventure together! Oh yeah, and my mom wants me to say THANKS a million for all you (Bee)do to help her keep our house clean... and Dee-- thanks for always growling with me! ;)

This past weekend I flew to Atlanta, hitched a ride w/ my dearest friend (Katie), drove 6 hours (due to terrible ATL traffic) and finally arrived in ST SIMONS (GA)!! I LOVE St. Simons... some of my favorite and fondest childhood memories come from SSI! :)

Along with SSI being "something special"...so are my friendships with these amazing girls... I LOVE everyone of them! Katie, Jessamie and I met the first day of our freshman year of college...we've pretty much been BFF's EVER since! ;) It's amazing to see the transformation we've all gone through since we were 18 years old... I love the impact we've had on each other's lives! Praise the LORD for these amazing girls!! ;) ;) I love ya'll!! xoxo

And... here we are at my other bff's (Laura Lee--the one front and center in the white dress ;) bridesmaid luncheon (in SSI)..it was lovely! Delicious food, perfect weather, great friends, fun laughs and a couple of tears...everything that makes a bridesmaid luncheon PERFECT!! ;)

Of course..it wouldn't be a batchlorette weekend without dancing the night away...right?! ;) Such a fantastically FUN, memorable, laugh your heart out kinda weekend (very needed!)...the friendship I have with these girls truly is "something special"! I am so blessed to call you friend! ;) (Proverbs 18:24)

But I must say...after such a great weekend with the girls I sure was happy and thankful to get home to the amazing and adorable men in my life! :) :)

Short Pump!

This past Saturday we decided to take a family "day trip" to Short Pump, VA (about an hour southeast/near Richmond). Short Pump has fantastic shopping (Nordstrom, Macy's, Pottery Barn, TJ Maxx Homegoods, etc..), so we started our day at the outdoor mall, attempted to eat at the Cheesecake factory (2 hour+ wait...ummm no thank you!), visited the "mother-ship" of all WHOLE FOODS (seriously..it was AMAZING!! ;) and ended our day at the incredibly-fun Children's museum! :)

You guessed it... the WATER station/exhibit!! :) It took a little tantrum but we made sure he wore that apron (he's been pulling off bibs since he was 9 months old..it must be things around his neck?! ;)

We had a fantastic Saturday (and weekend!)... this Friday I'll be taking a plane to visit some of my favorite girls on the PLANET on St. Simons Island! More to come on that later... Happy Wednesday Ya'll!!! ;)

Dates!

Here Hudson is on Saturday morning admiring the little squirrel eating all the bird feed and deer "food"... he was very entertained by this little animal! It was funny to watch! ;)

Brad and I have just realized we have gone on a DATE 3 weekends in a ROW!! The first was while Brad's dad was visiting... we went out for coffee and dessert after Hudson went to bed. Super thankful to have a date together and enjoy coffee/wine and tiramisu! ;) Last weekend I asked our 12 year old neighbor AND her mom to babysit while we went to a 5pm matinee movie... "Hall Pass"...ya'll know I gotta support my Office peeps (Jenna Fischer)! ;) And this weekend we were very "spontaneous" and called one of our babysitters about an hour before the matinee movie showing...thankfully she was willing and waiting! We went to see "The Adjustment Bureau"...great movie (romantic thriller)! Brad and I LOVE the movies and not just renting... we much prefer the whole "movie experience".. popcorn/coke (diet for me, sprite for Brad), the excitement of the previews (if I miss the previews I might as well NOT show up!:), the big-screen, others reactions to the movie (laughter, etc..), even the smell of the butter-y popcorn... we LOVE going to the movies!! ;) Extremely thankful for the fun DATES! :)

Here Hudson is on Saturday morning feeding the "bang"...(aka-DEER). :) Typically the deer come early in the mornings or late in the evenings but Hudson likes feeding them ALL day! ;)

Focused on the trampoline! I hope ya'll are having a nice weekend as well!! :)

Celebrating the big 2-0-0!!!

That's right...can you believe it?!! This post makes blog post #200!!! We started this blog in December 2008 after we announced to family/friends that we were expecting our first little bundle of joy... you can see our very first blog post HERE! It was sweet and simple but I had just entered the blog world and wasn't exactly sure how to start the blogging "process"?! ;) I have had the most fun going back through old posts...it's amazing to see the cherished memories and moments in our little journey of life and parenthood! I thought about doing a TOP 5 favorite blog posts but it was just WAY TOO difficult to choose (I have about 100 FAVORITE posts! ;)... so I decided to bring out the ole' Wedding scrap book to give you a little Anna and Brad "history lesson"! ;)

July 4, 2005 was by FAR one of the BEST DAYS of my ENTIRE LIFE!! It was the day Brad PROPOSED...everything about the day was PERFECT (seriously I could write a book on our proposal story! :). This is Brad, in the moment, on his KNEE, asking me to be HIS wife! This is ME, shocked, crying, shaking, saying YES... (Of COURSE ;) I'll be YOUR wife! (Both our families were there behind us...my dad had kept it a secret from my mom for 3 WEEKS after Brad asked for my hand in marriage...she was a little emotional to say the least! ;)

This is the INCREDIBLE group of friends we had spent the whole July 4th weekend at the lake with...and YES, they ALL KNEW about the proposal (everyone but ME!). Can you believe how great they are to not give one clue...NOT ONE! Seriously, we adore these amazing friends and PRAISE the LORD for their incredible friendship, faithfulness, encouragement and LOVE!

And YES...here we are on the Jumbo-Tron!! Brad's aunt/uncle had made us shirts for the "occasion"! :) Seriously, one of the BEST days of my life...and how great that it all happened at the Atlanta BRAVES game!?! :)

Kind of random but this is one of my all-time favorite engagement pictures...love, love, LOVE! ;) So..after 4 years of dating, 10 months of engagement, and 2 1/2 years of marriage we found out we were expecting this little BRIGHT, Live-ly, bundle of JOY!! :) :)

Yes, this is Hudson's birth announcement! Ohhh...how our lives are forever changed because of this little piece of Heaven and incredible gift from the Lord! ;) I just want to take a moment to thank YOU for faithfully following our blog and showing an interest in our sweet little family and all our fun "adventures"... I love following blogs and I feel so encouraged by so many of you! ;) Thanks for sticking around for 200 posts...we hope you'll stick around for 200 MORE! :)

Brad's dad came to visit this weekend..we've been having lots of fun and Hudson is enjoying all the special time with his Granddaddy! :)

They took Hudson to the lake in our neighborhood to feed the ducks... he loved it, of course!! ;)

He really wanted to jump in the water WITH the ducks!

This picture literally cracks me up! Brad and his dad told me Hudson followed this little girl and her mom forever (this is EXACTLY what Brad would do as a child...that's one reason it's SO FUNNY!!!)...and the fact that Brad took a picture of Hudson with them is even funnier..haha!! Such a nice mom and daughter to take a moment to snap a photo. :)

I hope everyone is having a bright and sunny (and delightful) Valentine's day like we are!! ;) I think most of you know how sweet and romantic Brad is so I'll keep all the "sweet-ness" to myself but I've got a good man that I'm extremely thankful for!! ;) Well, I do have to share with you this one thing... I was excited and surprised to have my lunch delivered to work today from one of my favorite local restaurants... "Hot Cakes"! With a note that read... "Happy Valentines Day to the LOVE of my life" ... Yep, Brad is awesome! ;)

Another Saturday "re-cap"

Well, it was another terrific Saturday...this time daddy DID go duck hunting, however, Hudson and I had a fun morning filling our time at the park with good friends! We love spending time w/ our dear friends Michele and her son (Liam).

Not only is Michele a wonderful friend but her husband (Saul) has a Saturday morning hobby as well... he is an avid cyclist, which makes it extremely convenient to plan some Saturday morning play-dates together (daddy-less;).

Just being a cutie...I know it's strange but I adore Hudson's teeth. Seriously, I ask him all the time to show me his beautiful "pearl-y whites"! ;)

We ended our Saturday giving our sweet friends Lina and Matt a free night of babysitting... Matt is deploying at the end of the month and we really wanted to give them a night out! :) They had a blast and so did WE!! ;)

I'd also like to use this time to express how excited I am to see the Lord moving in our sweet little family...I hope you'll "stay-tuned" and visit the blog often because God is moving BIG mountains and I'm thrilled to be a witness and a starving believer to God's journey! :)

Saturday Sweet-ness :)

Yes, we did start our Saturday morning eating some delicious and "sweet" donuts from Spudnuts... but the REAL sweet-ness started at home! Stay with me... it's SUPER sweet! Brad decided at the last minute to sleep-in and spend some "Saturday morning" quality time with us (even though its the second to last weekend of duck hunting season). Needless to say I woke up one happy wife to see my sweet husband still laying in bed next to me! :) When Hudson woke up Brad went and got him while I layed in bed a little longer, enjoying the warmth of the covers. As I layed there I heard the pitter-patter of little feet running in to our bedroom... our conversation went like this:

Hudson- "Mommy Up" (I pulled him up in the bed with me).

{insert lots of love, hugs, and "I love you's"}

Hudson-"Mommy eat" (come eat breakfast with me)

Me- What is daddy making you?

Hudson- "pancakes"

Me- What else?

Hudson- "Eggs"

Me- Oh Yummy {insert more love, hugs, and "I love you's" :)}

Hudson- "peas mommy" (please come mommy)

Seriously...melt my heart in to a thousand little pieces!! love, Love, LOVE our little Hudson! :)

Our entire Saturday was amazing... Hudson had his pancake and eggs, we went to Spudnuts and then to the Discovery Museum (sorry no pictures) in downtown C'ville. We came home to let Hudson nap...

After Hudson's nap we took him to the Smith pool-Aquatic center! Isn't this place incredible!!

Look where mommy was... It was perfect! I worked out while I watched my boys play in the pool... PERFECT!! :)

And we ended our Saturday here. A little PRAISE (answered prayer)-- our picky little eater is not so picky these days... he's eating all kinds of things and tonight he had re-fried beans, rice, chicken/cheese enchilada, cheese dip, avocado, etc... I just happened to have my camera most of the day so now you have a little "documentary" of our Saturday! It really was a Saturday full of SWEET-ness! :)
